Mart Jan van Aalderen – Lawyer

Mart Jan works within the corporate and insolvency division. He advises and litigates on contracts, forms of cooperation, financing, (the enforcement of) securities and shareholder disputes. Mart Jan also advises companies, shareholders and directors on reorganizations, restructurings, restarts and impending bankruptcies.

Due to his in-house experience (including at a Big Four accounting firm), Mart Jan knows what serves his clients best. In this context, he has also gained a lot of experience with matters surrounding annual accounts and accountancy issues.

Mart Jan studied at the University of Groningen, where he completed his master’s degree in Dutch law in 2010. After his studies, Mart Jan started as a lawyer at RESOR in 2010, where he specialized in insolvency law, financing and securities. Before Mart Jan joined Labré in 2024, he worked at KPMG for almost 9 years. There he was, among other things, responsible for the management of the claims & litigation portfolio.

Mart Jan graduated cum laude from the postgraduate specialisation training program Corporate- and Business Law at Grotius Academie. Grotius Academie is a collaboration between the law faculties of the universities of Amsterdam, Groningen, Leiden, Maastricht, Nijmegen, Rotterdam and Tilburg.

Mart Jan is a member of the Corporate Litigation Association and the Annual Accounts Law Association.

Mr. Van Aalderen has registered the following principal (and secondary) legal practice areas in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister): Insolventierecht and Ondernemingsrecht (Bestuurdersaansprakelijkheid en Vennootschappen). Based on this registration, he is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
